In 2003, Julian Pottage’s ‘Play or Defend?’ was the IBPA Book of the Year. An unusual problem format, it gave the reader all four hands and challenged them to analyze the deal and decide whether they wanted to play or defend.
This sequel comprises 72 problems, presented in the same unique fashion, and will appeal to the same readership.Wales) is best known as a bridge problem constructor, and his many awards include IBPA Book of the Year. His most recent book for MPP was Defend or Declare?
A must for those who want to sharpen their bridge skills – very much recommended.

Few answers will be obvious, even to the advanced player. Most would provide a good drill for an expert.. I spent three weeks in a futile search for errors, but it is a colossal waste of time to seek errors in a Pottage book. It’s much more fun writing a review to make the publisher doubt the author’s credentials, but I can’t figure out anything sarcastic or critical to say to discourage our readers from buying this book

Pottage is very good at finding interesting challenges of a varying degree of difficulty, and his way of giving the solution to each problem in two parts is intriguing and makes the problem solving even more fun.
