Built around real-life deals featuring the bridge-playing rabbi, Leonard Helman, this book contains a wealth of tips on bidding and play for the advancing player. Even experts will learn from some of the bidding ideas, drawn from Eric Kokish’s encyclopedic coaching files.

Mark Horton

MARK HORTON (UK) travels the world writing about bridge. Editor of BeBridge magazine and of the Daily Bulletins at World and European Championships, he is also the author of nine previous MPP titles.

Eric Kokish

ERIC KOKISH (Canada), an ACBL and CBF Hall-of-Famer, and four-time WBF open medalist, has made his mark as a player, coach, analyst, consultant, editor, columnist and author. He lives in Toronto with his wife Beverly Kraft.

An unusual combination. Both parts are interesting, and Horton has skilfully chosen deals that segue into Kokish\'s bidding methods segments.

Fun and instructive – and those willing to study and apply [Kokish’s] methods will enhance their bidding accuracy substantially. The Rabbi would be proud of this book. Rated A.

A wonderful book and a superb instructional opportunity for intermediate and advanced players. Three separate collections are skillfully blended. The reader tours over 130 deals from a variety of high-level national and international events, mostly featuring Horton partnering Rabbi Helman, and is challenged to make decisions in all aspects of the game. Results and discussions with valuable lessons follow. A second collection features The Rabbi’s Rules, 20 useful maxims interspersed throughout; level varies from basic to sophisticated. In the third collection, Eric Kokish offers detailed notes on a wide variety of related systemic and conventional methods. This unusual material alone is well worth the cost of the book. Even expert partnerships will benefit from these notes, but they do require study, discussion, agreement and practice.
