About the Author

Michael Schoenborn

(Toronto) has represented Canada several times in world championships, having won both the Canadian Team Championships and the Canadian Senior Team Championships. While he has been a prolific contributor to bridge magazines in Canada over the years, this is his first book.

You owe it to yourself to read this book. The laughs are sometimes one a second. And we are constantly reminded how captivating bridge can be, for players on all levels. Be warned, though. Because of Schoenborn’s fertile, brilliant imagination, some sections require careful reading, depending on your own bridge ability, to understand exactly what is happening at the table. But don’t let that dissuade you from the experience. When great characters and great stories are told by a master story teller about the game you love, what more can you ask for?

I moved to Toronto in the 1970's, and was soon a member of the local bridge crowd. I was lucky to meet The Shoe as well as many of the characters in his book. The best part of the game was the post mortem in the nearby restaurant with many stories of success, failure and confusion by Michael and friends. When you buy this book, clear your calendar because you are not going to want to put it down. Shelagh Paulsson shep at BBO
