Barbara Seagram (Toronto, Canada) ran one of the largest and most successful bridge clubs and bridge schools in N. America. After selling the club in 2007, she now concentrates solely on teaching and organizing her popular bridge cruises. An ABTA Master Teacher, Barbara has been involved in many of MPP's most successful titles, most notably 25 Bridge Conventions You Should Know. With more than 200,000 copies in print in English alone, this book is the bestselling bridge title since Charles Goren was writing in the 1950s. It has been translated into Japanese, French, Danish and German.

A New Bridge Magazine
These two books are considered to be classics - and with good reason. The clarity of writing, the simplicity of the teaching, the light style and the well organised and logical progression of the subject matter combine to make them hard to beat as guides for beginners and early improvers. Kantar’s wry humour is always detectable in the background. It’s good news all round that these classics have been re-issued, and with revisions by Seagram that have only improved them.

The basic fundamentals laid out with terrific simplicity, as they were over 50 years ago in the original editions. Barbara Seagram has done a tremendous service in updating them to account for changes in bridge teaching. Rather than languishing on a dusty shelf in a library, these books belong in the hands of beginning bridge players. Both are easy to read, and a great source of material for beginner lessons.
