Nobles rise and fall in court favour, fortunes are made and lost, and life and death affairs are planned and executed, all between the bids and plays of the most deadly and mannered bridge games imaginable.

Robert F. MacKinnon (Victoria, Canada) is a retired mathematician whose work has appeared in a number of bridge magazines. He has written two bridge novels, including the remarkable Samurai Bridge, as well as the best-selling (!) Bridge, Probability and Information.
