About the Book

Bob Smithers is dead, although few in the tournament bridge scene will shed any tears. Art Fraser, the ambitious police lieutenant assigned to the case, knows the bridge world well. He reckons that should give him the inside track on cracking his first homicide investigation, the one that will bring him the promotion he wants so much. But Smithers made enemies easily, both at the bridge table and away from it, and Art has plenty of potential murderers to investigate. Even his own bridge friends have to be treated as suspects, and he begins to uncover a complex tangle of jealousy, ambition, sex, and deceit amongst people to whom he knows bridge is far more than just a game. Then a second body shows up...

American Bridge Teachers Association Quarterly
'A delightful bridge mystery -- polished, suspenseful, and thoroughly enjoyable.'

'If you are looking for something different for a change then your search may be over. I read very little non-fiction, so the fact that I read the book from cover to cover is praise in itself. Indeed once I had started it only took a few days to finish.'

'Jim Priebe's authentic (read recognizable) characters in a well-told murder intrigue, where the bridge-playing police detective in charge has to realize that even his bridge friends are suspects, has resulted in a book that any bridge-playing lovers of the crime genre should include in their library. Enjoy!'
