Alex Adamson (Linlithgow, Scotland) is a Scotland Open Team player. Additionally, he has captained the Scottish Open, Junior and Women's teams. After a successful European Championships in 2018, he captained the women in the Venice Cup in Wuhan in 2019.
Ken Allan (1940-2018), the author of the Pemberton Bridge Club mysteries, was an expert bridge player with many Regional wins. He also wrote extensively about his other passion, vegetable gardening.
Joan’s love of bridge and her passion for teaching have been a part of her life for over 45 years. Her underlying guideline for reaching the student is to lay a solid foundation of fundamentals and also help them develop a bridge to new friendships. Holding a Diamond Life Master ranking, directing and managing a club for over 20 years have helped Joan understand the risks and rewards of playing and promoting the game. In July of 2007 a Master Teacher award was presented to her by the American Bridge Teachers’ Association. She is currently serving on the ACBL Educational Foundation board.
TAF ANTHIAS studied mathematics at Cambridge University. With DAVID BIRD, they carried out research and development on software systems for over 30 years at IBM’s UK Laboratories. In the 1970s they formed a successful bridge partnership, winning a number of national events. Taf moved on to the USA, where he became a vice president of Cisco Systems.
JAY APFELBAUM lives in Philadelphia and works as an administrative law judge. He is married with two daughters and two grandchildren. He regularly plays with his wife, April, at local bridge clubs and tournaments. Jay is a Grand Life Master. His first regional victory came in 1973 at a knockout event in Richmond, Virginia. He won the Blue Ribbon Pairs in 1976. Since then he has won many regional events and placed in the top ten of a number of national events.
MARK AQUINO (Boston, MA) is a Grand Life Master and a retired Engineering Manager from Procter and Gamble. An avid bridge player, teacher and administrator, he has served on the boards of the USBF and the ACBL. He is married and has two sons, one daughter, two granddaughters and one grandson.
Sabine Auken lives in Denmark but still represents her native Germany in world competition. At one time the world's #1-ranked woman player, she has won three world titles and been a medalist in nine other world events.
